Session: Distinctively Human: Winning in the Age of AI

As artificial intelligence raises the baseline of what “good” looks like, differentiation is no longer about speed, access, or even technical skill. When everyone can generate polished output, the real advantage shifts to something far less replicable: how distinctly human you show up.

In this session, Adaluz J. Veloz explores the emerging gap between capability and judgment, and why over-reliance on AI is quietly eroding the very skills leaders need most. From decision-making without depth to communication without true understanding, many professionals risk becoming indistinguishable from the tools they use.

This talk introduces a clear, practical framework for what it means to be “distinctively human” in an AI-shaped world. Attendees will learn how to strengthen non-automatable skills like critical thinking, contextual judgment, and trust-building, while using AI as a tool for amplification rather than replacement.

Through real-world insights and actionable strategies, this session challenges leaders to move beyond efficiency and reclaim the human edge that drives influence, credibility, and long-term impact.

Key Takeaways:

Understand how AI is reshaping the definition of value and differentiation
Identify the risks of over-automation and skill erosion in modern work
Apply a practical framework to strengthen judgment, communication, and trust
Learn how to use AI to amplify expertise without losing human distinctiveness

Key Takeaways

  • How organizations are operationalizing AI beyond experimentation into real workflows
  • Building trust and accountability in AI-enabled decision making
  • Scaling capability across diverse, global workforces without losing the human elemen Navigating the balan

Bio

Adaluz Julie Veloz is a Global EVP and Head of the Edelman Learning Institute, where she leads enterprise-wide strategy across leadership development, capability building, and workforce transformation. Recognized as a leading Latina voice in tech and tech-adjacent leadership, she operates at the intersection of AI, talent, and business performance, helping organizations translate emerging technology into real, scalable human capability.

In close partnership with AI Enablement teams, Julie plays a pivotal role in embedding AI into how leaders think, decide, and operate. She has helped shape global AI fluency strategies that move beyond technical understanding to drive behavior change, adoption, and measurable business outcomes. Her work focuses on closing the gap between innovation and execution, ensuring AI is not just introduced, but operationalized across the enterprise.

She is the architect of Durable Learning, a leadership and capability philosophy designed to ensure that learning lasts beyond the moment of instruction. In the age of AI, her work challenges organizations to move past content consumption and focus on reinforcement, application, and behavioral change at scale. She is known for reframing AI learning from “what do you know?” to “what do you actually do differently?”

As a Latina executive, she brings a critical lens to how innovation is adopted, trusted, and sustained across diverse workforces. She is a strong advocate for ensuring AI scales not only efficiency, but also access, inclusion, and opportunity.

Her influence extends beyond learning into organizational design, change management, and enterprise transformation. Julie is the creator of multiple leadership frameworks, including the RISE+ Feedback Model, STAGE Delegation Framework, ALIGN Framework, and LEARN Feedback Framework, all designed to translate leadership theory into daily practice at scale.

She is also the author of Tales from the Curls, a thought leadership platform exploring leadership, culture, and the future of work, her work has been published by Forbes, Adweek, Journal of Multicultural and others. She is a frequent speaker on AI, trust, and the evolving role of leadership in an AI-enabled world.

Her perspective is clear: AI doesn’t fail because of the technology. It fails because learning doesn’t stick, and leaders don’t change.
